Under the umbrella of ALLPWR Ministries (Apostle Gregory B. Reese and Eldress Yvette Edler Reese), the Anointed for God Youth Ministry (affectionately known as AFGYM) began in August 2010. God definitively named it in a dream. Since its inception, the youth have been serving Christ and striving to represent the “Anointing” of God.
The initial leadership included Mother Rose, Minister Nekiesha Edler, Minister Kevin Reese, and Deacon Jeffery Edler. Advisors Sis Jacqueline Horton and Benjamin Singleton were also included.
Current leadership includes Minister Nekiesha Edler as President, Minister Kevin Reese as Treasurer, and Deacon Jeffery Edler as Secretary.
The AFGYM ministry allows our youth to express themselves in a safe and encouraging atmosphere to help them deal with the challenges of life. Homosexuality, drugs, and racism are a few of the topics that are discussed with the youth. Christian commitment, purpose, and relationship with Christ are stressed to the youth.
Its original members included Taylore Chestnut, Joshua Seymore, Jeffery Edler, Jr., Kevin Reese, Jr., Destinee Reese, Brielle Williams, Breotnie Nichols, and Brayon Nichols. Additional members include Kristina Davis, Emmanuel Davis, Taliyah Thompson, Tyneka Hicks, Trinity Hicks, Tahmel Hicks, Tashawn Hicks, Izaiah Alexander, Devin Whitle, and Gabriel White.
During its existence, AFGYM has held:
1) Youth Sunday
2) Monthly youth rap sessions
3) Fellowship/team building outings/activities
4) School supply drives to assist back to school (2011 – 2013)
5) Helping hands (cleaning of the church)
6) Kitchen staff/servers
7) Fundraising events
The ministry continues to evolve and grow as God sees fit. Youth are encouraged to serve Christ and become disciples through a disciplined life every day inside and outside of the church.
